Ways to enjoy Doha by night on a budget

By day Doha shimmers in the desert heat but by night the city lights twinkle and you’ll be mesmerised by the kaleidoscope of lights making up the skyline which overlooks the Persian Gulf.  You won’t be lost for things to do as Doha offers many exciting things to get involved in once the sun goes down. Don’t worry, you don’t need to break the bank to have fun and enjoy being in Qatar’s biggest city. Here is our run down of the best things to do in Doha at night on a budget

Tasty meals and delicious dishes

Doha’s vast selection of restaurants, cafés and eateries feature a wide range of international cuisines from Lebanese to Chinese, Italian to Indian – there’s something for everyone.  MRA Restaurant and Bakery offers delicious South Indian dishes with friendly service and really good food. It’s open until 3am and is really reasonably priced.

Grab a turkey sandwich at turkey central – Doha’s most famous Turkish restaurant. It’s a local institution where generous servings are the norm and delicious servings of grilled chicken, hummus and tabbouli are renowned. Open daily until 12.30am they also do deliveries.

Afghan Brothers is another gem that has six restaurants across Doha – the locals know them for their chicken mandy and other grilled dishes serviced on a bed of buhkari rice with a tasty side salad

Feel the buzz in the bars

It’s no secret that alcoholic drinks are strictly banned in public in Qatar; however, you can buy drinks in international hotels, their restaurants and nightclubs. You don’t need to be a guest at the hotels to visit so entry fees aren’t a consideration here.

For great music, glamorous surroundings and a fun night out, head to Crystal nightclub – happy hour lasts all night meaning cheaper drinks and the experienced bar staff can conjure up tasty cocktail combinations. The popular spot is great to dance the night way to the best DJs in Qatar. Crystal is popular with ex-pats and can get very busy at weekends so try pre-booking a booth for all your friends to share.

If it’s a few quiet drinks you fancy, try one of the best pubs in Doha, Boston’s – the American themed sports bar serves ice-cold beers and delicious American gastropub food, the perfect place to catch up with friends or have a leisurely night out. Ask about happy hour and the drinks promotions on offer.

See the city by night

To uncover hidden gems and see a different perspective of the city for $26 you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Qatari capital. Go on a spectacular night tour which takes you around the illuminated skyline of the city. You’ll be given headphones to listen to an interesting and informative audio commentary in 7 different languages. It’s the perfect way to take in the complete city in the cooler temperatures at night. Tours depart at 7pm each night from Souq Waqif and last around 90 minutes.
